Volunteer Youth Support Assistants

We’re looking for two Volunteer Youth Support Assistants to join Brighter Futures Together in Marlow from September 2026.
This is an opportunity to get involved in real youth work, support young people alongside our experienced team and develop your own skills and confidence along the way.
You don’t need previous youth work experience. We’re looking for people who care about making a difference to young people and are ready to learn and get involved.
Volunteering can be flexible around your existing work, study and other commitments.
What you’ll get involved in
As a Volunteer Youth Support Assistant, you’ll work alongside our team across BFT activities and youth work provision.
Depending on your availability and interests, this could include supporting youth groups, activities, holiday programmes, events and other opportunities for young people.
You won’t be expected to come in knowing how to be a youth worker. You’ll be supported by experienced members of the BFT team as you develop your confidence and experience.
Learn while you volunteer
As part of the pathway, you’ll receive:
- Hands-on youth work experience
- Training and ongoing support
- Opportunities to learn from experienced youth work practitioners
- A fully funded place to work towards the nationally recognised Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles through the BFT Youth Work Academy
The Level 2 programme is designed to fit alongside your volunteering and other commitments, combining face-to-face, online and supported learning.
Youth work is built on relationships. We believe learning should be too.
Who is it for?
This opportunity could be right for you if:
- You’re 18 or over
- You live locally or have a connection to Marlow
- You’re interested in supporting young people
- You’re willing to learn, take guidance and be part of a team
- You can make a reasonable commitment to volunteering with BFT
New to youth work? That’s OK.
You don’t need a youth work qualification or previous youth work experience to apply.
We’re more interested in finding people with the right approach, who are ready to learn and take on a responsible volunteering role supporting young people.
Safeguarding
Supporting young people comes with responsibility.
Successful applicants will need to complete our usual volunteer recruitment and safeguarding checks, including references and an enhanced DBS check, before beginning the role.
You’ll also receive the induction, safeguarding guidance and support you need to volunteer safely and confidently with BFT.
