OxWell 2025: National insights from the University of Oxford into young people’s wellbeing

June  2025

On Monday 9 June 2025, we were pleased to take part in the national OxWell Student Survey Insights webinar online session sharing early findings from the 2025 wave of this important research study into the wellbeing of young people.

The OxWell Student Survey is one of the largest of its kind in the UK, developed and led by the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oxford. With over 30,000 students taking part this year, the survey provides powerful insights into the lives, challenges and perspectives of young people across a wide range of topics.

The session, delivered by members of the OxWell research team, explored what the latest data is telling us how schools, policymakers and communities can use these findings to make a difference.

We’re proud to have supported the OxWell project over the past three years through our consultancy offer, helping to bridge insights from research, education and lived experience. Today’s session was another reminder of how valuable this work is in shaping better support for young people.

📊 Highlights from the session included:

  • Gender diversity
  • Student mental health and access to services
  • Activities that promote school belonging
  • Students reporting as neurodivergent
  • Bullying: prevalence, impact and responses
  • Digital exposures
  • Practical recommendations for schools and policymakers

This year’s survey also included new questions for primary-aged students, offering fresh insight into early experiences and transitions.
