Celebrating local heritage through creativity: Marlow Donkey Trail now live!
August 2025
We were proud to support the Marlow Donkey Walking and Rail Trail community project—bringing young people’s creativity into a wider celebration of local history.
We’re delighted to have played a part in the Marlow Donkey Walking and Rail Trail—a Buckinghamshire Council-led community project celebrating the history of the iconic railway line that links Marlow and Bourne End.
The trail was launched at Bourne End Station in celebration of 152 years of our local branch line. Visitors can now explore a walking route brought to life with heritage boards, QR codes, original artwork and storytelling from across the community.
We’re especially proud that young people from Brighter Futures Together contributed to this project. Their creative work—developed during a half-term workshop led by poet Helen Bowell and illustrator Nicola Metcalfe—is now part of the permanent display, proudly featured alongside the Brighter Futures Together logo on one of the trail boards.
This inspiring initiative brought together local voices, community partners and artists to create something truly intergenerational. It celebrates both the railway’s rich history and the vibrant, creative energy of those who live along the line today.
A huge thank you to everyone involved—Buckinghamshire Council, GWR, Bucks Libraries, Marlow Museum, Marlow Ark Café, The Princes Centre, Dementia Action Marlow, Helen Bowell, Nicola Metcalfe, and many more.
