Q Hub - Allies Forum

Allies don’t have to be part of the LGBTQ+ community, you might be parents, siblings, friends or colleagues of people in the community, even if you think you aren’t! The reluctance of some people to come out reflects the continued need for us to create a supportive and understanding environment, especially for young people.

We want to pull together a diverse range of voices expressing their support for equality and inclusion. Whether you know someone or not, you have a unique power to send the message that inclusion and equality aren’t just things that LGBTQ+ people want, but something that EVERYONE wants.

We aim to meet at relaxed and informative quarterly events in central Slough. Our first event is at Plus X Innovation on January 29th, 3.45. Please join us if you can by emailing us at [email protected]

We have some great speakers from key charities and organisations lined up, starting with Switchboard, one of the oldest telephone support organisations for LGBTQ+ people in the UK.  They will be discussing the main concerns they hear from the young people that contact them. Alongside them we will be discussing what it means to be an ally. We will offer you a chance to ask questions, however simple, and have queries answered by both Switchboard and some of us here at the Q Hub Slough.

Ultimately, we want to empower you to support young people through training for you and a pathway for them into our Q Hub Slough Youth Group.
