Artist  –  (Freelance)

About the role

We’re looking for a creative, values-led freelance artist to lead weekly art sessions for neurodivergent young people aged 10–16 as part of our new Weekend Space Art Club. The group will run every Saturday during term time (1–3pm) at Marlow Youth & Community Centre.

You’ll create a calm, welcoming space where young people can express themselves, try new things, and connect with others. The role is about more than delivering art — it’s about building confidence, celebrating strengths, and helping young people explore neurodiversity through creative experiences.

What you will be doing:

  • Planning and leading engaging weekly creative art sessions
  • Creating space for self-expression, exploration and connection
  • Supporting up to 10 neurodivergent young people, alongside a staff member and occasional volunteer
  • Contributing to a calm, inclusive and structured environment
  • Writing a brief reflection after each session
  • Supporting young people to explore Arts Award (optional)

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll need experience of working on creative projects with young people and confidence in supporting neurodivergent young people. This could come from your own lived experience, previous work, or volunteering.

You’ll also need to be:

  • Organised, reliable and confident leading group sessions
  • A good communicator, with basic admin skills
  • Able to work as part of a wider supportive team
  • Creative, adaptable and values-driven

You’ll Also Need To:

  • Have (or be willing to get) an Enhanced DBS check – we can arrange and pay for this
  • Complete a short online safeguarding module
  • Be able to show evidence of your right to work in the UK (e.g. passport, visa, settled/pre-settled status)
  • Work freelance and be responsible for your own tax and NI

How to Apply

Please send us:

  • A short message (written, video or voice note) telling us why you’re interested in the role
  • A few examples of your creative work (photos, links or portfolio)
  • A basic overview of your relevant experience — no formal CV required
